Digital solutions, consulting and software house Valantic ( www.valantic.com) recorded the most important digitization trends in companies at the beginning of the year. In addition to the growing importance of green IT, experts have identified concrete applications of artificial intelligence and data analytics as well as the expansion of machines and workplaces into virtual space as the top topics for 2023.
Given the current global situation, the topics of sustainability and energy efficiency are critical points on the agendas of most companies. These have also become a focus in the field of IT – and will also gain importance in the coming year. “While companies are struggling with energy costs at the end of 2022, investments in more energy-efficient and therefore more sustainable solutions should not be postponed,” advises Marco Faure, Senior Consultant at Valantic Supply Chain Excellence GmbH. “Questions about data center energy efficiency are now being asked more frequently because the answers save money.”
In addition, AI is on the verge of a breakthrough in 2023: as a tool for greater sustainability and, above all, for new business models. “In 2023, we will see more support from colleagues in AI,” predicts Thomas Lang, Managing Partner at Valantic. IT security in particular will benefit from this, Lang continues: “Artificial intelligence in the form of machine learning will play a greater role in automated detection and defense against cyberattacks.”
In addition, topics such as virtual or augmented reality and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) will fully reach the corporate world in the coming months. The main driver of developments is 5G, which will be more important in the corporate environment with regard to IoT production lines or self-driving vehicles on corporate premises than in private life. In addition, the cloud strategy is slowly being rethought: Cloud Native will replace Cloud First and in this way enable completely new applications in companies.
