Technical assistance in daily life: technology workshop for seniors

Free workshops for older people on using technology in everyday life at FernFH

Wiener Neustadt (red). Two workshops will be held at FernFH on November 29 and 30 under the title “Determining Destiny through Everyday Life – How can I use technical aids?” This is a collaboration between the city of Wiener Neustadt, Digital Austria and the OeaD Digital Competence Initiative. This aims to further train older people (65+) in the technical field.

“Nowadays, technology has simply become an integral part of our daily lives. It is very important that older people understand the most important aspects of today’s technology. The fact that they can now deal with this in the workshops at FernFH is a very good opportunity. This means that they can Ask questions on the spot and get support where they need it. The workshops aim to help older groups of people cope alone with mobile phones, tablets or laptops and do not need help with the smallest technical issues. City Councilor Erika Buchinger said: “ Take advantage of the free workshop offer and take a look into the world of technology.”

Each workshop includes three modules. Participants get an overview of current and available technologies and learn how to adapt them to their specific needs (font sizes, voice input, video telephony, navigation). Trying out apps for everyday life is also important. You will also learn the basics of online security and how to get the necessary information about it.
