Around August 16, 2023 (Wednesday), Google abruptly ended support for the Google Assistant on smartwatches running Wear OS 2 or lower.

According to the notice, the Wear OS “Google Assistant” smartwatch will now require Wear OS 3 or later.

And as the notice states, smartwatches running Wear OS 2 or lower will not be able to use Google Assistant. This means that Wear OS smartwatches that do not update to Wear OS 3 will no longer be able to use Google Assistant.

I don’t think there were many users who used the Google Assistant on Wear OS in the first place, but even so, it comes as a surprise that the functionality that was available until now was eliminated. And everyone is surprised.

Google announces that the Assistant will soon no longer support smartwatches running Wear OS 2. You’ll need to upgrade to a newer watch running Wear OS 3 (which supports Google Assistant).
