Around August 16, 2023 (Wednesday), Google abruptly ended support for the Google Assistant on smartwatches running Wear OS 2 or lower.

GoogleOfficial siteWe have not announced the end of support for Google Assistant on smartwatches running Wear OS 2 or lower, but we have sent a notification that we will announce the end of support for Google Assistant on smartwatches running Wear OS. 2 or less seems to be the case. According to the notice, the Wear OS “Google Assistant” smartwatch will now require Wear OS 3 or later.

And as the notice states, smartwatches running Wear OS 2 or lower will not be able to use Google Assistant. This means that Wear OS smartwatches that do not update to Wear OS 3 will no longer be able to use Google Assistant.
