The hit kung fu game Sifu is back with more content, Sloclap reports to developers and publishers in a recent announcement. Among other things, there is finally the possibility to adapt the difficulty of the fighting game, which is convincing in terms of gameplay, to your abilities and needs.

In addition, the training mode is being worked on, the scoring system is revised and additional modifiers are introduced to individualize the gameplay. A replay editor will also be integrated later in the year so you can relive the great moments, and of course share them with friends. In winter there will be a circuit mode!

The roadmap announces the following free updates:

  • autumn: The first update will introduce difficulty options and an advanced training mode, as well as the ability to change outfits so you can always look new as you embark on your path of revenge.
  • summer: Fans can look forward to an expanded scoring system, as well as gameplay modifiers that can be used to personalize the Sifu experience.
  • autumn: The Replay Editor will let you share (and show) your best moves in battle. There are also new mods and outfits to play.
  • winter: All-new game mode: Arena. (More information will follow throughout the year.) Of course, this update will also include other new mods and costumes.

Sifu’s primary inspiration comes from the classic kung fu movies, where some members of the development team Sloclap Pak Mei practiced kung fu and many other martial arts. During the game’s development, the Sloclap team worked closely with the Kowloon Nights team in Beijing and Hong Kong to ensure the game respected Chinese kung fu culture as much as possible.

Several consultants from Chinese video game companies were invited to contribute and provide feedback, which led to many changes in the game, from the appearance of the main character to the environmental details. In keeping with the five elements of wuxing at the heart of the game, Chinese composer Howie Lee combined traditional Chinese instruments with electronic music to create a unique soundtrack that enhances the authentic feel that the Sloclap team was striving for.

So if you want more of it, you can look forward to the first update – which will be released soon!
