Munich, Salzgitter Whether it’s carbon dioxide balance, buying green electricity, or green steel: in the future, how sustainably companies operate will be an important part of their assessment in capital markets – and for customers a crucial criterion. The problem: How do you prove, for example, that green hydrogen is really green, that is, it is generated by electricity from renewable energies?
Today, most companies don’t even collect their real data, but only use average values. Or they enter the numbers individually and manually into a table. There can be no talk of verifiable rules, standards or procedures.
The energy technology group Siemens Energy has now developed a fully automated certification system with Tüv Süd and the German Energy Agency (Dena). The so-called clean energy certification system is based on blockchain technology.
