FRAUNHOFER Institute for Graphical Data Processing is your topic? WE AT FRAUNHOFER IGD IN DARMSTADT WE OFFER YOU AN EXCITING ACTIVITY AS A SCIENTIFIC PERSON IN 3D PRINT TECHNOLOGY FOR OUR 3D PRINT TECHNOLOGY WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SCIENTIFIC STAFF TO STRENGTHEN OUR TEAM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Team, you will be responsible for the Cuttlefish() 3D printer driver GUI, which our customers use to plan and execute 3D printing jobs. You must be able to discuss with clients the necessary changes to the application as well as discuss with the team the necessary modifications in the primary application in order to meet the requirements of the clients. You are also responsible for managing new releases and ensuring that the deployment runs smoothly from the users’ point of view. In addition to the GUI and the core application, you are responsible for the various (web) services running in the department. A doctorate can also be obtained in cooperation with TU Darmstadt. If a PhD thesis is sought, this can be done on the subject of ray-path-based surface visualization/rendering and volumetric visualization/rendering (remote field compression and representation), with applications in rapid visualization of CSG processes, displacement mapping and transparency. Your main tasks Further development and maintenance of the 3D printer driver’s GUI Cuttlefish() Research and development on ray path-based visualization User support for software solutions Management of new releases Management of various internal services (web) What you bring with you Academic degree (Master’s) Have successfully completed a major in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar knowledge in 3D rendering Experience with 3D visualization libraries (x3dom, ThreeJS) Very good understanding of web technology stacks Experience in NodeJS, experience with REST, Nginx, PHP, MySQL and CSS and HTML in the use of tools Git, CMake and GitLab Experience in deploying applications and services on Windows and Linux Good communication in written and verbal form (English, German) Experience with purposeful design, automated tests is an advantage (Python, GitLab CI) Ability to Exit Thinking from the user’s perspective (“How can an experienced user X solve problem Y with our app?”) Ability to make minor modifications to our core C++ app Comprehensive and oriented way of working In detail what you can expect 3D-Druck Technologie to operate on a global approach to replicating real or virtual objects in multi-material 3D printing. To this end, we are developing new models, algorithms and software in order to reproduce not only the geometry but also the optical material properties of these objects. Our goal is to add colour, texture, luster and transparency to the best possible visualization within the device’s range of capabilities. People from all over the world work on our team. We offer a very open work environment where you can participate in the development of drivers, tools and ecosystem for color 3D printing and contribute your own ideas. Our clients include major tech companies, Hollywood studios, game makers as well as hospitals and 3D printing companies, so you can build a large international network of company contacts through your work.
