Sam Ash Music closes all Southern California stores

Another local retailer will close its doors in the coming months.

Sam Ash Music announced on the company's website Facebook page It will close all seven of its locations in Southern California, as part of closing all 42 stores nationwide.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce that all Sam Ash Music store locations will begin store closing sales today,” the company said in a statement. “This unfortunate news also presents an exciting opportunity for great deals across our premium range of musical instruments and professional audio equipment.”

Sam Ash did not provide a reason for the decision, but an employee told… Orange County Register Stores in Los Angeles, Hollywood, Ontario, Westminster, Torrance, Puente Hills and San Diego will close by August.

The company is offering discounts on merchandise and said all sales will be final.

The store was founded in 1924 by Sam Ash, an immigrant from Austria, and his wife, Rose Deneen, from Russia. The family-owned company has been selling musical instruments and equipment for 100 years.

The company's slogan is “Come and Play,” encouraging musicians to perform inside the store.

Last month, 99 Cents Only announced that it would close all of its locations. Many brick-and-mortar retailers have struggled since the pandemic as internet-based businesses continue to grow.
