Robo Alarm – Action game review and test

Robo Alarm – Action game review and test

At night in the museum, the robot takes care of all the treasures. But a gang of thieves infiltrated to steal the treasures. This is the theme of the board game written by Michel Verdoux and Kenny Kiernan (Schmidt Spiel).

Two getaway cars are ready. Red car and blue car. Treasures must be brought to the escape cars. This happens alone, with two, three or even four people if the treasure is particularly valuable. Everyone should pay attention to the color of the car and of course that the thief cannot be detected by the robot. Because he sees through the tube for a brief moment with his own eye. Time is of the essence, so the whole thing has to happen in three minutes. Listen carefully and you will know when to open the lens.

The beginning of the game in Robo Alarm

Depending on the number of people playing, the treasures are sorted. Because some need two, three or four people to carry them. Then the robot is selected. Treasure cards are hidden in the room by Robo. It's better to remember the number of these cards (speaking from experience)! The robot's lens is then turned on and the tour begins.

Once you turn the lens on, the music starts. The lens opens for a brief moment and Robo has the opportunity to catch the thieves – he is, after all, the night watchman. It is enough to say the name. The person has to drop the treasure, but they still have one more chance and it is not dropped until the next time they recognize it.

The toy box is transformed into a Robo mask. To do this, the batteries are inserted into the lens and everything is attached to the box. The lens of the eye opens for a few seconds and closes again. Melody sounds.

The box is well padded and holds up well with the included elastic band, which can be adjusted to size. The robot mask also has privacy screens attached to the side. Great idea to use the box as a mask. It's a bit difficult when packing the game because the protective walls also collapse. We put the treasures in an extra bag so they stay in the box, as well as the installation materials. Otherwise the parts will disappear through the small opening of the eye. The box is very stable and beautifully designed. It looks really cool.

Conclusion: Is Robo Alarm fun?

The instructions are very easy to follow and are suitable for those who don't like to read. If you still don't want to or can't read, you have the option to access a video using a QR code. Just think about it all!

Robo Alarm is a great game, especially with a lot of people in a large room. We even put up obstacles so there are more hiding places. Using the box as a game object is really genius. Robo Alarm is quick to set up and really fun. You can even play with it outdoors. Unfortunately we lost a point when attaching the lens. However, there are four pieces holding up the entire structure so it still works! We can't help but recommend it, also as a party game.
