Ric Flair’s debut in AEW was Tony Khan’s gift to Sting

Ric Flair’s debut in AEW was Tony Khan’s gift to Sting

Even before last Wednesday when Sting announced he would be named a Hall of Famer after next year revolution PPV, the awards were pouring in for The Icon.

After the announcement, the biggest one promised to be his boss in AEW. There were reports that Tony Khan will present Sting with a historic gift on October 24 dynamiteThis is something that has never happened before to a “professional wrestler.”

Sting came out with his protégé Darby Allin (with a broken shoulder most likely caused by the ropes). The Stinger thanked the crowd in Philadelphia, and Allen – who he called the best partner he ever had.

The 64-year-old then thanked TK, which led to Tony Schiavone asking him to return the mic. The voice of AEW spoke on behalf of its president, thanking Sting for his contributions to AEW and to the history of wrestling on TBS. And that was a bit of a gift that lived up to the hype… the guy who wrestled Sting for 55 minutes on Superstation in 1988, when Clash of heroes It went the opposite way Wrestlemania IVRic Flair.

Flair spoke about his history with Sting, calling him the nicest man he had ever met. He plans to stay for the rest of the Stinger’s run, until March 2024 when he will definitely bid farewell.

It was a beautiful moment, it’s a shame it was ruined by a certain father figure…

Christian Cage whipped Philadelphia into a frenzy with his insults to Ric Flair (my favorite was him saying that Khan’s gift to Sting was “basically a suit, some gold chains, and a black liver… a great gift”). But he was mostly here to target Sting & Allin for being back in action again last week. The TNT Champion doesn’t want to wait until The Revolution to end Sting’s career. even in Full rushchallenged Stinger & Darby for a partner to a three-way match.

Since choosing Flair, as Christian points out, would not be a sound strategic decision, we believe that spot will go to Adam Copeland. But we’ll learn more about that soon. Like in the next segment, when FKA Edge tried to insist that he still wouldn’t fight his old partner, and received heavy criticism about it from The Icon.

We’ll see if this leads where we think it leads. Right now, what do you think about The Nature Boy coming to AEW?
