With meticulous care and deep bel canto experience, tenor Vittorio Grigolo sings his way through melting verismo melodies.
Vittorio Grigolo simply dispenses with discussions about verismo's flexible master data. The repertoire of the album, which the tenor dedicated to Italian opera infected by naturalism and moving towards musical drama and modernism, spans nearly sixty years. Grigolo's understanding of this is rooted in bel canto. You can hear that in our wonderful and meticulously detailed piano culture. The delivery combined with the striking accents of the words and the particularly catchy tone of his voice make for a mesmerizing linear cut from Verismo. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pier Giorgio Morandi, responds to Grigolo with the sensitivity and delicate effects of chamber music. The focus is on Puccini's melting solos as well as the romances of Boetto and Ponticelli. Even in Bagasso's monologue for Leoncavallo and “Nessun dorma”, Grigolo impressed with his meticulous attention. This album does not contain a single harsh sound.
