It was previously reported that Amazon was looking to develop new projects based on intellectual property they controlled after its acquisition of MGM in 2022. “Legally Blonde” was one of those projects, along with others like “Barbershop” and “Robocop.”

The first Legally Blonde movie was released in theaters in 2001. Witherspoon starred as Elle Woods, a fashion-focused sorority girl who decides to attend Harvard Law School in an attempt to win back her boyfriend. In the process, you discover a natural competence for the law.

Schwartz also created the Fox drama series “The OC,” for which Savage was an executive producer. The duo also produced the recent “Gossip Girl” reboot at Max and co-created shows like “City on Fire” for Apple TV+ and “Nancy Drew” for the CW.
