The Basel Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Julia Schröder and soprano Nuria Real, performs concerti grossi and little-known vocal music from the second half of the 17th century.
For the second time, the Basel Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Julia Schröder, devotes itself to music created in Bologna in the second half of the 17th century in the setting of the Filarmonica Academy, founded in 1666. In addition to Giuseppe Torelli’s virtuoso concerti grossi, this second recording presents little-known vocal music Approximately by Giovanni Paolo Colonna, Giacomo Antonio Berti, and Carlo Francesco Pollarcolo. Catalan soprano Nuria Real took the vocal part. The ecstasy of her voice, charm and flawless singing technique are enchanting as always. The chamber orchestra, conducted by Schröder from the violins in a Baroque style, plays beautifully and effectively.
