Quick Share supports file transfers over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and while Bluetooth is used to scan for nearby devices, Wi-Fi takes priority for the actual file transfer. This is because Bluetooth transfers data at a slower speed than Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi transfers are possible if the devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, but this is not the case. Current developments indicate that Wi-Fi Direct technology can be used to solve this problem by allowing Wi-Fi-enabled devices to communicate directly with each other without the need for a router or access point, regardless of location or network.
