Play – Force with Survivor

Electronic Arts “Star Wars” is like buying a VW Golf: you get an expectedly good product for good money. And even if there were cars on Monday (“Battlefront II” was such a case for many), you can still be sure that you will get great quality and solid action that will give you a lot of pleasure. “Jedi Survivor” is no exception. It offers everything you could hope for from a game of this type: an exciting storyline, tactile characters, lightning-fast battles, challenging puzzles and, last but not least, a large explorable world. Developed for Playstation 5, Xbox Series and PC (for gaming), the game impresses with good graphics, as expected.

Revert to the role of Cal Kestis in the Fallen Order sequel. One of the few surviving Padawans killed by Anakin Skywalker, aka Darth Vader, he secretly became a Jedi. As such, he attempts to rebuild the Knights’ system that was nearly extinguished. In “Jedi Survivor”, Cal continues to fight against the increasingly powerful Empire. While he supports the Rebellion, the possibility of creating a safe haven for the last remaining Jedis seems open, far from the attention of those who seek to exterminate them.

To stay with the comparison with the VW Golf: with the “Jedi Survivor” you get something like a Golf GTI – much better than the base version, but still a little farther from the Model R. And it will probably stay that way. This is due to a circumstance that is actually a great honor for the game and is something like being honored: inclusion in the list of “Star Wars”. This means that the story presented here is an integral part of the Star Wars universe. Like Luke Skywalker or Cassian Andor.

There is no individual action

“Jedi Survivor” also plays like a movie in which you are the main actor. Therein lies the problem. While there are options for visual customization, as well as the ability to develop Cal’s personality and combat skills, there are also choices to be made throughout the story. But all this practically does not affect the plot. There is no other way. As part of the canon, Cal Kestis’ story should be the same for everyone. Just imagine an alternate story arc for Luke Skywalker, tyrannizing the galaxy alongside Darth Vader.

But with this plot, the potential that could raise Cal’s series to the realms of “Mass Effect”, “Dragon Age” or “The Witcher” is wasted. But this consideration should not hide the fact that “Jedi Survivor” is completely recommended and provides the best entertainment. It is worth noting that the game was tested on Playstation 5 by Wiener Zeitung. PC gamers have reported regular stuttering and crashes. EA promised to fix this with the following patches.
