Bandai Namco Entertainment / FromSoftware The action RPG “ELDEN RING” is a very difficult game, and perhaps because of this, there are many people who play with different restrictions. Among them, there was someone who had defeated the worst boss with a dance board and at level 1 without daring to grow, but this time a game commentator appeared to play the Elden Ring with only his brain signals.
Game commentator on twitchBerry CarialIs this person. First, he had an electroencephalogram (EEG) machine attached to his head. Specifically, it picks up brain signals from an upper sensor pad attached to a saline solution. Then they measured brain activity and looked for differences between when they were just talking and when they were imagining an attack.
We then assigned switchbindings (groups of process inputs) according to each brain signal, making it possible to move or attack the character with just a thought.
The researchers experimented with using EEG signals to control gamesThis is not the first time. But to do so in a non-lab, casual setting and in a game as challenging as Elden Ring was perhaps unprecedented.
Perry Karial, who has a master’s degree in psychology, could have done it, but says the technology is too simple. After a few seconds of explaining with a focused expression, “This is the picture of pushing something forward,” the character walks forward and attacks the enemy.

PerriKaryal certainly doesn’t have anything in his hands (no danceboard probably), he’s just “thinking in his head.” However, the on-screen characters use magic, drink recovery medicine, and dodge after a moment’s delay… I also defeated Radagon’s Red Wolf, which is one of the bosses.
This boss has low stamina, and even though it borrows the power of Ash (help character), it seems like it’s cool to create a boss battle. In the future, superhumans may appear who can defeat powerful enemies like “Abominable Demon, Margit” with just brain waves.
