Pete Davidson has been charged with reckless driving after crashing into a Beverly Hills home

Authorities said Friday that Pete Davidson has been charged with misdemeanor reckless driving after crashing a car into a Beverly Hills home in March.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said the reckless driving of the comedian and former “Saturday Night Live” star “resulted in his involvement in a serious home collision.” Prosecutors said no one was seriously injured.

A representative for Davidson told NBC News that there would be no further comment on the case.

A Beverly Hills Police source with knowledge of the incident said the crash occurred on March 4 in a residential area of Beverly Hills, where police officers contacted Davidson after the collision.

The source said that officers at the scene believed that further investigation of his sobriety was not justified by his appearance and behaviour, adding that he was cooperative.

Police clearly felt, however, that speed was a factor in the accident, according to the official.

The reckless driving charge story was first reported on Friday by TMZ.

Davidson came out as one of the most popular cast members on NBC’s “SNL” at the end of the 2021-2022 season starring in the Peacock series “Bupkis.” NBC and Peacock are owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News.

The attorney general’s office linked the Davidson incident to an increase in traffic fatalities, some of which involved vehicles allegedly traveling too fast. “Reckless driving can have serious consequences,” the office said in its email.

Arraignment in the case is scheduled for July 27. Defendants in typical California misdemeanor cases, with some exceptions, can usually have an attorney present.
