U.S. physicists have succeeded in tripling the energy efficiency of a test nuclear fusion reactor at the National Ignition Facility (NIF), which marks an important step in using nuclear fusion as a viable energy source for mankind, according to two studies published on January 26th. These two studies in the scientific journal Nature are related to plasma burning experiments carried out in the months preceding the reaction of 10 quadrillion watts. These experiments produced just 200 micrograms (0.000007 ounces) of energy from a single particle of hydrogen, 170 kilojoules of energy, which is three times the energy output of all previous experiments. The sequence is called the hohlraum, and the fuel particles are “embedded” as the hot capsule shell expands rapidly externally – resulting in the fuel heating up other parts of the particles in the plasma at higher temperatures. Although other scientific steps are required before using the passive sealing compound as an energy source, it will allow scientists to learn more about the process in order to obtain the burning plasma, he said.

Thanks to American physicists will eventually appear with a new potential energy. In two of their studies, published on January 26, they shared experiments on nuclear fusion, which significantly increased the energy efficiency of a nuclear reactor.
U.S. physicists have succeeded in tripling the energy capacity of a test nuclear fusion reactor at the National Ignition Facility (NIF), marking a key step in using nuclear fusion as a potential energy source for mankind.
Two published studies January 26 in the scientific journal Nature.
That
Two study report Burning plasma experiments were performed in the months preceding the 10 quadrillion watt reaction. These experiments produced 170 kilojoules of energy from just 200 micrograms (0.000007 ounces) of a pellet of hydrogen, three times the energy output of all previous experiments.
The fuel capsule – a small spherical polycarbonate diamond shell – and the cavity containing it were carefully crafted into a small cylinder of uranium (highly non-radioactive) lined with gold called holram.
New designs allowed particle-heating NIF lasers to operate more efficiently in Holram, and the hot capsule shell expanded rapidly outward as the fuel particles “embedded” – resulting in the fuel melting at such a high temperature. It heated the other parts of the pellet in the plasma.
Further research is planned
“This is a necessary step towards a way to produce more energy through fusion than the energy we pay for,” NIF physicist Alex Gilstra told LiveScience.
Although many more scientific steps are required, passive closure fusion can be used
As a source of energyWill allow scientists to learn more about the process of obtaining burning plasma, he said.
“Burning plasmas within the NIF are now subject to a new regime, where we can scientifically study such conditions,” the physicist noted.
