German Future Award
Berlin – Munich (ots)
The three candidates d. Thomas Kalkbrenner, d. Jörg Siebenmorgen and Double Phys. Ralf Wolleschensky found a way to examine living things with a high-resolution fluorescence microscope without affecting them. To do this, they extended the so-called grooved optical sheet microscopy and combined it with innovative optical elements. This opens up entirely new possibilities to trace and better understand the processes in cells – in basic research and in the search for new diagnostic methods or substances effective against many diseases.
Two other teams were selected by the jury for the award. On October 26, 2022, they will decide this year’s award winners. Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will present the 2022 German Future Award to the winning team at an awards ceremony on the same evening.
The German Future Prize, the Federal President’s Prize for Technology and Innovation, honors scientists and engineers who, thanks to excellent basic and cutting-edge research, provide solutions to pressing social challenges and create jobs. The prize money is 250 thousand euros.
The Awards Ceremony will be broadcast live on October 26, 2022 from 6:00 PM www.deutscher-zukunftspreis.de And the www.zdf.de to experience. ZDF broadcasts the awards ceremony at 10:15 p.m.
