Private Division and Weta Workshop, the creative minds behind the “Lord of the Rings™” film trilogy, have announced a game for PC and consoles: “Tales of the Shire”! In this game, you can put on the shoes of a hobbit and enjoy a comfortable life in Middle-earth.
The game, developed by Weta Workshop Game Studio, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Weta Workshop, takes you straight into the idyllic world of the hobbits. And what's better? You don't have to wait long, as Tales of the Shire is scheduled to be available for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
What is “Tales of the Shire” about?
You live the life of a hobbit in Wasserau, a small village full of magic and discovery. You can relax in the meadows, browse the villagers' small shops, or enjoy a hearty second breakfast. But there is more to do than just enjoy village life. You play a central role in strengthening the community in Vasserau and planning the largest village festival the province has ever seen.
In “Tales of the Shire” you can design your own hobbit according to your ideas with many customization options. You can customize your hobbit cave with different furniture and decorations.
You can do this as a hobbit
There are many activities waiting for you in the county: whether cooking, fishing, gathering or gardening, everything is possible here. You can catch trout in the sparkling Wasserauer See or collect mushrooms in the forest, which you can later use to prepare a delicious pie. After a delicious lunch, you have the opportunity to stroll through the county and make friends with the people of Wasserau by helping them in the garden or sharing a meal together. Changing weather affects daily activities and brings seasonal surprises.
Inspired by the “Lord of the Rings” books.
Middle-earth Enterprises has granted Weta Workshop an exclusive creative license to literary works in the Lord of the Rings™ universe, allowing Weta Workshop Game Studio to delve into the world of the books.
Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings™ will be released later this year for Nintendo Switch™, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
