As announced by Microsoft, the Edge web browser is getting some gaming functionality.
In December 2021, the company first tested the new Clarity Boost functionality in version 98 of the Microsoft Edge developer. According to program manager Milena Gonzalez, the optional feature uses a combination of scaling features to improve visual quality. The image received locally is sharpened directly in the browser. For this purpose, the game streaming service uses technologies that work directly in the Microsoft Edge web browser. Now Microsoft offers a file Free post for all users. Microsoft Edge version 103 is required.
Minesweeper game that can be played in Microsoft Edge
Clarity Boost aims to improve image quality in cloud games. For example, Xbox Cloud Gaming can also be used in a web browser. If you want to play free games like Fortnite, you can stream them for free via Xbox Cloud Gaming. If there are other games like for example, if you want Forza Horizon 5, you need a subscription to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs about 13 euros, to be able to use the cloud games. Clarity Boost can also be used with other services such as Google Stadia or Nvidia Geforce Now.
Also new is the ability to play video games in a sidebar. These are casual games that open in a sidebar. In the list of games, for example, there is a selection of Solitaire, Crosswords, Majong and Minesweeper to choose from. The gaming area can be activated or deactivated at any time in the “…” menu. In addition to the list of new games, Microsoft is rolling out a new start page showing game releases, links to game streams and games recently played with this Microsoft account. The game menu and new start page are currently rolling out in waves to Microsoft Edge users, so not all users will get the new content right away. Although Edge is based on Google Chrome, the mentioned features are only available in Microsoft’s web browser.
