Max Hillebrand in The Game of Words – Offenberg

Offenburg’s literary days give Wort-Spiel Maximilian Hilbrand a theatre, a performance artist who comes from Offenburg. On Sunday, April 23rd, at 6 pm (not at 7 pm as printed in the festival flyer), Hillebrand and his troupe can enjoy the literary and musical “Ein Herz ersuchen” at the Offenburg Reithalle.

Hillebrand has composed a sensitive performance from the text of a novel by award-winning author Esther Kinski (b. 1956) and various poems. Bonn Generalanzeiger wrote in a review that it is less about the geographic or temporal assignment of locations than it is about exploring being an alien and an up-and-comer. This blends perfectly with the folk music research of Hungarian composer Bla Bartk. The raw material for the improvisations of musicians Gunda Gottschalk (violin) and Christian Lorenzen (instrument) are Bartke’s violin duets, “on which the spoken texts are based as a softly shimmering soundtrack, sometimes also powerful or pointedly pointed”. Actress Katharina Schumacher is mostly the observing narrator, and Hillebrand takes on a number of narrated characters.

Today he lives in Bonn and earns his living mainly as a voice actor. In addition, he continues to do his acting, literary and music projects. Through the Frank Zappa Project, Hillebrand made a guest appearance on his cast The Grandsheiks at Spitalkeller in Offenburg in 2019.
