LoL Worlds 2021: End, end, and more for Europe

Many European League of Legends fans have been eagerly waiting for Sunday. The reason for this was the third quarter-final, where the MAD Lions, the last and only European representative to make it from the group stage of the tournament to the top eight teams in the world, had to face the world champion DWG KIA. .

MAD Lions gives a little hope at first

In the third match, the last remaining Europeans in the 2021 World Championships had their backs. Three consecutive victories had to be scored against the title winners, the reigning world champion and the last undefeated team of the tournament. The fans’ last hope was that the comparison increase from Game 1 to Game 2 could be repeated again in order to prevent a match point.

However, the apparent increase was not enough

Game 3 started out quite differently than one would have hoped. Although the MAD Lions relied on one of their earlier brands and chose Wukong for the top track, game one, unlike game two, clearly went to DWG KIA. This quickly led to large gold relics from the MAD Lions, which had already robbed much of the belief in a European victory. But again like a mirror from Game #2, it was a team battle at The Baron, which in this case brought the MAD Lions back into the game. It took nearly 40 minutes for a 3-0 net result to be decided and the end of Europe in the 2021 World Championships was decided. HOWEVER: MAD Lions shouldn’t be ashamed of Sunday’s performance. The increases in Matches 2 and 3 clearly demonstrated the performance that the LEC Champion could provide and the potential in the team. It wasn’t easy for DWG KIA to make its way to the semi-finals.

In the said semi-final, the world champion will meet T1 on his way to defend his title, who in turn also reached the semi-finals of the competition with a clear 3-0 lead over Hanwha Life Esports. For T1 about famous quarterback “Faker”, today’s score means you’ll meet a team from your region for the second time in a row in the knockout stage. On the other side of the tournament tree, Gen.G Esports is also a Korean team in the tournament, which in theory could reach the finals.
