List of CW renewed and canceled 2022 shows: ‘Flash, ‘Riverdale’ and more

Finally, the CW classic has arrived for an early revamp, although pickups are lower in volume than in previous years.

Today, Tuesday, the network renewed seven series for the 2022-23 TV season, including them All Americans (for the fifth season), Sparkle (for season 9), Superman and Louis (for season 3), Riverdale (for the seventh season), Walker (for season 3), kung fu sport (for season 3) and drawing nancy (for season 4).

This is the first time in four years that The CW has waited until spring to release its first wave of book renewals. (by comparison, in 2019And the 2020 And the 2021The network had already delivered early pickups by February.)

The “delay”—combined with a more modest number of renewals—comes as parents at The CW, Paramount and WarnerMedia, explore the network’s sale. (Local TV giant Nexstar is said to be among the suitors.)

If a deal is struck, the new owners are expected to implement a new programming strategy, which could leave many of CW’s existing chains vulnerable to cancellation or, in a more optimistic scenario, preparing to move to respected streaming outlets of ViacomCBS and WarnerMedia, Paramount+ and top HBO.

In announcing the renovations on Tuesday, CW President and CEO Mark Bedowitz (not surprisingly) didn’t talk about the sale.

“As we prepare for the 2022-23 season, these scripted series, along with the alternative series we previously renewed, will be the start of a solid foundation with some of the most watched series so we can build on them for the next year and beyond,” the CEO said in a statement. . “These dramas are also important to our overall digital strategy, as they are among our most popular and socially engaged, and we look forward to adding more new and returning series to help strengthen and scale our multiple platforms.”
