Sony is making sure its future theatrical franchises are covered with actors hoping to wrap up as the studio partners with Nintendo to finance a live-action feature for the popular video game. Legend of Zelda.

The video game, created by Japanese game designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka and released in 1986, follows the elf-like warrior Link and the magical princess Zelda, as they fight to save the magical land of Hyrule from Ganon, an evil warlord turned Devil King.
Nintendo saw huge success earlier this spring with Illumination and Universal’s animated video game feature film Super Mario Bros Which ranks second in terms of highest revenues this year with $1.36 billion. More than 50% of them Zelda It will be financed by Nintendo with a theatrical release worldwide by Sony.
Legend of Zelda It will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, acting director and Nintendo colleague, and Avi Arad, president of Arad Productions Inc.
No release date has been set.
Films based on video games, once an unfertile property of Hollywood at the box office, have boomed in recent years. Paramount Sonic the Hedgehog The Sega series has grossed over $725 million worldwide with a third film due in December 2024.
