Our second 2023 LEGO Ideas review just got a little more neighborhood with a Mister Rogers Project by Matt Smith.
Fred Rogers and his iconic display have been brought to LEGO Ideas many times in various forms, with dozens of other Mister Rogers projects currently on the site. However, the Smith project is the first to hit the all-important 10k mark — which means it has a shot at becoming a true blockbuster.
Smith, who goes by the username Bricksmitherd, used 1968 pieces in his model as a nod to the series’ original broadcast date of 1968. The model has two faces, one depicting the Rogers house and the other representing the make-up neighborhood. Believes. There are lots of mini-play features such as a moving red cart on a 360-degree track and a feature that makes Henrietta jump out of her house.
The fan-made model includes minifigures of Fred Rogers, Francois Clemmons, Betty Applelin and Mr. McFeely, plus a full collection of animals. Easter eggs for fans of the show are scattered throughout the building, similar to many other classic LEGO Ideas sets. If you want to see a full list of references you can check it out original post.
This mod brings the number of LEGO Ideas projects for its second revision in 2023 to 21, but there are sure to be more to come. Keep your eyes peeled for more LEGO Ideas 10 updates!
