Labyrinth: Team Edition: Review, Critique, and Testing

Labyrinth: Team Edition: Review, Critique, and Testing

the A maze– The family of Max J. Kobbert (Ravensburger) has a new member in the family. Now we go into the labyrinth together to find a deal for the spirit of the labyrinth – Daedalus. We can only achieve this goal through teamwork.

What is the theme of Maze: Team Edition?

Will we find the magic broom or the winged shoe fast enough? Will we be able to find all the magical treasures in time to show us the way to the portal? This is how we find a way out of the enchanted maze.

We must succeed in this challenge before the last page of the magic book is turned. Otherwise, Daedalus would keep the labyrinth closed forever.

Game style

Initially, as in the well-known maze, the corridor tiles are randomly placed on the playing field and the treasure cards are shuffled face down.

But Daedalus is also preparing himself – his cards are in the book of three-dimensional magic. Before each player moves, a page of the book is turned and the opponent performs a magic trick. It blocks passages, hides treasures, or lures players to other corners of the maze.

Each player has a pawn, a treasure tile, and two spell tiles. Additionally, everyone gets the first two Treasure Cards at the start.

For their part, the player then attempts to access one of the treasure, or better yet, both on their treasure cards in the maze. Fortunately, players can do magic: on my turn, in any order, I can use a push spell once, use a turn spell once, and run as far as I want once, and of course only through unblocked corridors.

First I flip this tile over and then I push the tile on that side into the maze. This is how I reach my first treasure and get an extra step. Since I planned and paid well, I can now access my second coveted treasure through the open corridors.

If I only land on one of the treasures I’m looking for, maybe I can use a turn spell or push at the end of my turn to try to set up the path for the next player. Hopefully this helps, because my teammate will also be turning in a page from the magic book. Hopefully, Daedalus will not destroy the prepared paths again. If passages are blocked or treasure is hidden, I can end my turn on the blockage and flip the maze tiles again so that the treasure is accessible again.

The goal of the game with this variant

The ending is different from pi Crazy maze. If we can collect all 24 treasures together before turning the 24 pages of the magic book, we will win as a team.

It’s also fun to be collaborative!

I was very curious about the co-op version of Crazy mazeBecause I always enjoyed playing the different versions. And last but not least, the first edition was shortlisted for Game of the Year in 1986.

I always especially like that Master’s maze She played – and won three awards: in 1991 she received the “Special Prize for the Beautiful Game” and the German Games Prize, as well as an award from the Mensa Association.

After several games of Labyrinth: Team Edition, we now play mostly with the Expert base – quest quests are expected to be in a predetermined order and four additional spells provide other options for movement in the maze. I’m definitely really excited about the co-op maze.
