KGames 2024: a colorful program at the gaming festival

The KGames Games Festival is taking place in Bad Kissingen again, and in addition to the colorful support program, it now also offers more than 500 digital games on different consoles for all gamers.

Some innovations

This year's KGames Festival will be held during the fall break, replacing the special Fall Classic Festival. Therefore, from October 30 to November 3, fires will be lit again in the consoles of the Youth and Cultural Center of Bad Kissingen, the announcement said.

Although Halloween on November 1st is also a quiet holiday at KGames, the event can still be held on this day. The program was modified accordingly.

Also new this year and with a very high level of retro charm is the Gameboy Station. Here, all visitors can borrow a classic Gameboy and experience the greatest classics: in addition to successful games such as “Mario Land” and “Zelda”, the first generation of “Pokémon” games should of course not be missing.

Look at gaming as an opportunity

For Philipp Pvolp, Head of the Department for Youth, Family and Social Affairs in Bad Kissingen, this event is an important signal: “Digital games are simply part of young people's lives.

It is important that we take this seriously and talk to them about it. It won't help anyone if we only highlight the risks. Above all, we have to see and take advantage of the opportunities that the world of digital games offers us and our children!

Diverse programme

Not only is the open play area inviting all visitors to try out the latest games and consoles, there is also a large support program with numerous workshops. “Finding an innovative way to approach it is important for all of us. How can games be used to convey educational content? How do they strengthen the social skills of players? How do we bring young people together with this? These are important questions that we have to ask ourselves again and again in a digital world that is evolving so rapidly.” .

In addition to all the aspects that need to be taken into account, there is one thing that is particularly important for Philipp Pvolp: “Young people love to gamble – and we simply have to admit that to them and see it for what it is in the end.” It is: a complex hobby and an important part of today's youth culture.
