[Kaufberatung] New gaming computer after 12 years

Hi everyone, I am looking for a new computer because my old computer is slowly but surely reaching its limits. My old system consisted of an I5-2500K and a 1070 user that I upgraded a few years ago.
I’m looking for a new system that I probably won’t upgrade for the next 5 or 10 years. Therefore, AM4 will be enough for me instead of AM5. The PC must be bought first without a graphics card, but I’m planning on buying the 4080 as soon as it’s available for less than €1000, as long as I keep using the 1070. I’ve already looked at some guides here on the forum, they’re really helpful, thank you very much!

1. Do you want to play on PC? If the answer is yes, then what?
Yes, many games, my old CPU is not enough for D4. I have a WQHD monitor but also an LG C2 4K120Hz TV which I will be running in the future, but 4080 later.

2. Do you want to use the computer to edit photos/music/videos or something similar? As a hobby or are you a professional? What software will you use?
A little bit of photo manipulation with Lightroom + Photoshop but not much else. Mainly gaming or a bit of office/surfing.

3. Do you have special requirements or wishes (specific brands and manufacturers, overclocking, a particularly quiet PC, RGB lighting, …)?
Simple PC wanted it to be reasonably quiet, not RGB. Nvidia graphics card, I was very happy with it, even with emulators. CPU, I first thought AMD, but I don’t really care.

4. How many and how many screens do you want to use? Model, resolution, refresh rate (hertz)? Gsync / FreeSync? How many FPS do you want to see?
Currently still 1440p with 60Hz (Dell 27 inch IPS Monitor), but soon also 4K with 120Hz. (LG C2 65 inch)

5. Do you still have an old computer, parts of which can be reused?
(please with links or exact model name)
Can no longer use an i5-2500K computer but will continue to use a GTX 1070 graphics card until I get a 4080.

6. How much money do you want to spend?
Without a graphics card around 900 euros, I’m willing to spend more for some useful updates.

7. When should I buy a PC?
Just in time for D4, over the next 1-2 weeks

8. Do you want to assemble the computer yourself or have it assembled (by the shop or by helpers (list as sticky))?
Do it yourself, loads of fun and worked out great last time

I’ve already compiled a list of what I had in mind so far:

  • Housing: Corsair 4000D Airflow Black, €88
  • Additional front case fans: 3x Arctic P12 PWM PST Black, 3x €4.40 = €13.20
  • CPU: AMD 5800X3D, 290 euros
  • Coolant: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports DUO Grey, €41.50
  • RAM: G.Skill RipJaws V black DIMM Kit 32GB, DDR4-3600, CL16-19-19-39, €77
  • Motherboard: MSI B550-A Pro, 108 euros
  • SSD: Western Digital WD_BLACK SN850X NVMe SSD 2TB, M.2, €120
  • Power supply: be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 750W or 850W, € 116 or € 123

It produces a total of 860€ with an 850W power supply, so I’m still within budget.
What do you think? I tried to make everything consistent so that the overall package fit and all components are of high quality but also a fairly good P/L.
That should also fit in the 4080, right?
With an SSD, 2TB and a high read rate are important to me if games are to be further optimized in the future.
There will also be a Crucial P5 for 10 euros less but honestly that’s not that important.

I have a few more specific questions, and it would be great if you could help me:
1) Is everything OK in terms of compatibility, both technically and physically (coolers don’t conflict with RAM or graphics cards, especially since the 4080 is so long, but that should fit in the right case?)?
2) 750 watt or 850 watt power supply? At the moment they cost about the same, but the 750W power supply was another one for less than 100 euros, maybe there will be another offer soon …
3) Is the CPU cooler enough? I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Arctic, but I wonder if it makes sense to invest 20-30 euros more, if so in what?
4) I have a good budget but I could add another 50-100€, do you have anything else that you think would be worth it?

thank you for your help!
many regards,
