The 2023 model of the Omen 17 — a high-end gaming laptop — uses a recognizable case from its predecessor, but builds on state-of-the-art hardware: Raptor Lake and Ada Lovelace drive the computer.
A Core i9-13900HX processor, GeForce RTX 4080 laptop graphics, and 32GB of RAM (DDR5-5600, dual channel mode) equip the computer for video editing, presentation, and gaming. The fast PCIe 4 SSD (1 TB) provides the necessary storage space and ensures short loading times. The matte QHD screen (17.3 inches, IPS, 165 Hz, sRGB) left a good impression.
The device displays all the current games smoothly on the screen. Full screen resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and high settings can be selected to maximum. High resolution can also be used if a corresponding monitor is connected – Omen offers up to three video outputs.
The battery can be charged via a universal USB-C power adapter (minimum 65W, 20V) – The Thunderbolt 4 slot supports Power Delivery (and can output a DisplayPort signal). The bulky 330W power adapter doesn’t have to be carried around with you. The slot also opens up expansion options in the form of a docking solution or an external GPU.
The preinstalled Omen Gaming Hub—the laptop’s control center—offers, among other things, the option of undervoltage: the CPU can run at lower voltages than the manufacturer wants. As a result, energy and heating requirements are lower. Too much voltage drop can result in an unstable or faulty system. Therefore, it is always done at your own risk.
