When you hear stories like this, aren't you curious about what UI looked like back then? In times like these, I want you to remember the website “Web Design Museum”. Here, screenshots of old websites, mobile apps, and software from the 1990s through the mid-2000s are archived, allowing you to experience nostalgic designs. Things like these are now considered cultural heritage and can be collected.
Unfortunately, this Web Design Museum also didn't include a screen listing emails from Gmail, but fortunately the login screen did. I definitely felt that way.
Compared to today's simple login screen, it feels a world away.
Gmail will have a completely new user interface in 2022, and the old Plain HTML will be gone. Will the next major renovation happen in about 10 years? What did it look like at that time? Maybe email itself is becoming obsolete…
Happy 20th birthday to Gmail!
