Many players like to gamble so much with their smartphone that now there are really great games for platforms like Android and iOS. In addition, cloud gaming is becoming more and more popular. Quite a few time for a real console. And it is precisely this target group that GameSir has developed the following product: X2 BT Mobile Gaming Controller.
How does this all work?
GameSir X2 has a simple structure: there are buttons and sticks on the right and left, and the smartphone is in the middle. Since the console can be extended and retracted in width, you can put the smartphone in the middle and fix it completely by pressing the two sides together.
The false surface and the inside are covered with rubber. On the one hand, this structure protects from being scratched by the smartphone, and on the other hand, it prevents the smartphone from slipping. How about the service?
Arrange the sticks and buttons
The standard buttons in the ABXY chart are located in the upper right-hand side. Below is a representative stick with a blue border. On the left side there is another analog stick in the upper area, but it has a red border. Below is a standard directional panel.
As usual, the shoulder buttons are located at the top of the right and left edge. Every game should be playable with a console.
power supply and more
In older GameSir X2 versions with a USB connection, the console was powered by the smartphone. This is of course not possible with the bluetooth version.
For this reason, a 500 mAh battery was installed. Unfortunately, the manufacturer GameSir is silent about how long the battery will last. But you can safely put up with two hours and more.
Other than that, the console weighs 384 grams. That’s no small amount, and with a larger smartphone, it can really hit your wrists. For long sessions, you should make yourself comfortable and support your forearms if necessary.
What smartphones does GameSir X2 BT support?
Early versions of GameSir X2 did not have a Bluetooth interface and only provided a USB-C port for connecting a smartphone and console.
This was of course a problem for iOS users with a Lightning connection. The Bluetooth interface has been improved here and thanks to this, significantly more devices are supported.
Other than that, all iOS and Android smartphones that are no longer than 173mm are supported. In short, the following characteristics must be met: Android 8.0 or higher, iOS 13.0 or higher, Bluetooth 4.2.
Not all games are compatible
A small issue with the GameSir X2 Bluetooth controller is compatibility. Not all games support the controller software. If you want to help your success a bit, you can try a key mapping app.
There are some apps available in the Google Playstore that can be used to assign buttons. You should also find something at Apple. For example, there is the Octopus Pro app.
Otherwise, most Android games and cloud games should work. GameSir states that most games should run on the following platforms:
- Microsoft xCloud, Xbox Game Pass, Sony PlayStation Now, Google STADIA, NVIDIA GeForce Now, Parsec, LiquidSky, Hatch: Play, Shadow.tech, Vortex, NetEase Cloud Games, Tencent Start.
scope of delivery
Of course, a GameSir X2 Bluetooth controller and a handy carrying case are included in the scope of delivery. This is very successful and is outlined in red. Since it is also very stable, it is well suited for travel.
There’s also a USB-C charging cable and of course a user manual on board. With GameSir X2 BT, that’s all you need for smooth operation.
Over 3600 reviews on Amazon
On average, customers forgive on Amazon 3.8 out of 5 stars. However, you should note that all GameSir X2 variants are listed here, including variants with USB connectivity, etc. In general, the tool was praised. One is completely satisfied with the quality of the processing and the simple setup.
Some users complain about incompatibility, but these reviews are more than 6 months old. The manufacturer has improved this in the meantime. Newer iOS versions should also be supported.
conclusion
On Amazon, the console currently costs €71.99 including shipping. This is of course the house number. It’s a little cheaper GeekBuying.com. There the remote only costs about 60 euros today.
In view of the good reviews and smart design, you should definitely take a look at the product if you are interested. It is clearly recommended. In addition, a gadget, along with a smartphone, is a substitute for a mobile adapter in a certain way.
