McDonald’s Germany
Munich (OTS)
As Official Partner of Gamescom 2022, McDonald’s Germany is back after three years at the world’s largest gaming event and for the first time combines its commitment to gaming and sustainable communication. The highlight of the on-site activation is the first McDonald’s escape room in the so-called “Better M” cube. McDelivery® is also the main sponsor of the gamescom cosplay competition.
McDonald’s Germany has been represented at Gamescom in Cologne for the fourth time and will therefore once again be an exhibitor at the world’s largest PC and video game event from August 24 to 28. The event, which was last held in analog form in 2019, kicked off the “gamescom go green” sustainability project this year. With the new and sustainable concept, Gamescom wants to play a leading role with its partners when it comes to climate protection. In addition to supporting the gamescom forest, McDonald’s Germany is also making this year’s onsite revitalization commitment and presenting the brand’s most important sustainability measures in a playful way as part of its “Better M” trust campaign. “McDonald’s is everywhere where people are excited about something – to us, Gamescom in Cologne has been one of them for years. We are glad to be there again in three years as part of the gaming community. McDonald’s stands for pop culture, but at the same time, we want Being shown to a target group is very important for us to take responsibility – towards the environment and society,” says Markus Weiss, spokesperson for McDonald’s Germany.
In the booth in Hall 8.1, Gamescom visitors are invited to experience McDonald’s Germany’s commitment to sustainability in a playful way. The highlight of the 180-square-meter suite is the so-called “Better M” cube, which will be converted into the first official McDonald’s escape room. Game elements are designed and implemented by the game experts at LOCKED Adventures. As part of the McDonald’s crew, you have to solve different puzzles in a replica diner to beat the high score in The Cube in a battle against time. The main prize is the McDonald’s Gold Legendary Cards for the winning team. In addition to the Escape Room, McDonald’s will take visitors to the platform on its journey to a more sustainable future with the help of mini-games in augmented reality. The company focuses on the topics of plastics, waste minimization as well as recycling. Games star Jasmine “Geno” and comedian Kaya Yanar will be guests at the venue on August 25.
On Saturday in Hall 10.1, around 50 participants will present their cool costumes to the McDelivery®-powered Gamescom cosplay competition for prizes in the Best Costume, Best Dress, Best Collection, and Best Design categories. Anyone who can’t attend gamescom can become a part of the action via gamescom EPIX and play their way through a digital gaming adventure – McDonald’s quests will soon await users there as well.
The activation at the end of August will be accompanied by the use of digital advertising space at the event site and in the Cologne city area and various content on social media. In addition, McDonald’s Germany is releasing the new gaming trailer “Missing Gamer” on the occasion of gamescom. Its story deals with an insight that every player knows: an evening with friends in our favorite online multiplayer game, but time and time again our mates keep us waiting. Hunger drives them away from the keyboard (AFK = away from the keyboard), although the solution would be very simple: McDelivery®. The clip was performed in collaboration with production company NEUESUPER and director Nicholas Bury. In addition to gamescom, the content portion will be used in a targeted manner in the gaming environment through an online media campaign.
