A few years ago, streamer Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm fulfilled his dream of owning his own gaming studio, developing the vertical shooter game “Deadrop.” DrDisrespect was a co-founder, idea keeper, and studio leader. But the studio he founded, Midnight Society, fired the streamer when they discovered his scandal. DrDisrespect has now said in a live stream that this will go away again.
This is why the studio parted ways with DrDisrespect: In 2017, DrDisrespect exchanged messages on Twitch with someone who was still a minor at the time, and the messages were, he said, “sometimes inappropriate” or at least went too far toward being inappropriate.
In another version, he said he was just “cheating” with the person – it wasn't about sexting or anything like that. It was all legal, and the person was clearly over the age of consent.
However, DrDisrespect was banned from Twitch in 2020 due to these messages and when the reasons for his Twitch ban came to light in June 2024, several advertising partners stopped working with him, friends moved away from him, and YouTube de-monetized his channel as well as his own channel. The game studio has ended cooperation with DrDisrespect.
It was said at the time that they first suspected his innocence, then talked to people and decided to immediately end their cooperation with DrDisrespect.
DrDisrespect learned live on YouTube in June 2024 that his studio had parted ways with him. The news seemed to have surprised him at the time. He still seems to think he can get out of trouble.
We recap DrDisrespect's history on MeinMMO here:
“We will be back soon – no problem at all”
This is what DrDisrespect said: In a recent broadcast, DrDisresepct gave the impression that it wasn't that bad. A viewer asked him why he was still in the Midnight Society in his Twitch description.
The announcer said: This is also his studio, his game and his vision. Eric and him built the studio, and it's still his baby. He has a feeling that you just have to wait a little longer and then “We'll be back, heroes, no problem.”
The studio gives DrDisrespect an ice-cold style
This is what the studio says: In a statement to the side Decryption A company spokesperson says: These statements have no basis and are “simply untrue.”
We have parted ways with DrDisrespect amicably and will always be grateful to him for what he did for the project. But the focus is on launching Deaddrop in 2025.
The studio is currently in crisis mode, without the driving force DrDisrespect, it seems that their previous budget planning is no longer working and they have been forced to take countermeasures and lay off several employees. Deadrop is supposed to be a vertical shooter and is scheduled to be released for PC, and later the game will also be released for XBox and PS5: Gaming studio debuts DrDisrespect – 3 months later with maybe half the staff
“Unapologetic analyst. Infuriatingly humble coffee evangelist. Gamer. Unable to type with boxing gloves on. Student. Entrepreneur.”
