Mostly positive feedback
Most of those who use AI professionally are satisfied with using text-based generative AI: 60 percent said they could use the generated results in a professional way, and 64 percent saw time savings. For a similar number (63%), generative AI helped them perceive the outcomes of their work more positively.
The workload has not increased. Despite the high level of satisfaction, the majority typically prefer to verify the results: 67 percent of employees who have already used text-based generative AI at work also checked the results for accuracy.
Risk awareness exists
The majority also see the risks of using generative AI. 57% say they know that programs can produce wrong results. For people using text-based generative AI in a professional setting, the number is 66 percent higher. Nearly half of employees (47 percent) who use the Internet assume that at least parts of their activities will become unnecessary in the next ten years due to the increasing use of this technology.
“In some professions the tasks will change, and in others the jobs will actually be eliminated,” says Antonia Schlod, scientific advisor at the BIDET research center. “But at the same time, new professions and jobs will also be created.”
Users also see general risks: 47% believe that the increasing use of generative AI could lead to humanity losing control of the technology. But skepticism diminishes over time: Those surveyed use these programs more often and are more likely to see opportunities (42 percent) than risks (9 percent).
Desire for guidelines and organization
A majority (52%) of those surveyed would like to see stronger regulation of generative AI, while only 11% see no need. A clear majority (66%) of employees who have already heard of generative AI systems say there are no specifications or guidelines for their use in the workplace. However, 46% have the desire to do so.
