DUNU, 6BA “Studio SA6 MK2” headphone update model / 1DD “Kima Classic” headphone – PHILE WEB

Sound Earth will release the new DUNU “Studio SA6 MK2” speakers with 6BA driver and “Kima Classic” in 1DD configuration starting Tuesday, June 27th. Both prices are open, but the Studio SA6 MK2 is expected to retail for around 89,900 yen including tax, and the Kima Classic is expected to retail for about 15,980 yen including tax.

Studio SA6 MK2 is the successor to the “Studio SA6” released in 2020, as the model name suggests. While following the driver configuration of the 6BA, the company pleads that it is “completely updated from the previous model” in all aspects such as tuning, cable, and body style.

There are six BA drivers in total, two each for low, mid and high frequencies. Both are dedicated to this instrument, and the low-frequency reproduction achieves deep sound reproduction by combining a low-frequency driver and a cavity airflow valve with huge airflow. Specially designed Knowles PA drivers are used for both mid-range and high-range reproduction. It is said to enable detailed response and play music that emphasizes details.

The 6 BA drivers are optimized with a three-way frequency crossover. The company says that the overall tuning enhanced the treble for more natural volume and enhanced detail, resulting in improved treble response and increased clarity.

Like the base unit, the sound quality adjustment switch is mounted at the top of the housing. The default state is when the switch is on the side marked “1”, it reproduces an “accurate, balanced response”. Switched to the side that says “ON,” it changes to a “surround enhancement mode” that punches out the low range.

In order to show the best performance, the internal wiring has been upgraded, such as adopting silver-plated wire and high-purity Furukawa single-crystal copper.

The shell uses a front made of carefully selected solid white birch. Because the ganglion and bark derived from the organs are fused to the main body in random patterns, each individual has a different design. By mixing gold powder with hand-crafted Nice-Fit UV Acrylic Resin, the surface gives an elegant streamlined impression.

The shape profile has also been improved, and a comfortable fit has been achieved using a new over-ear model.

The included cable is the original HULUK PRO MINI cable. By using an independent aluminum foil shield on the secondary high purity single crystal copper wire core, it contributes to a reduction in cable weight while maintaining excellent sound quality. The operator side plug part adopts the same modular structure as the previous model. 3.5mm Single End / 4.4mm Scale can be recombined into two types. The earphone side plug adopts 2Pin.

The Kima Classic is an in-ear 10mm dual-chamber dynamic driver with DLC diaphragm. The instrument is said to follow the same configuration as the previous Keima model, but by changing the tuning, “the presence of low and high frequencies is increased, achieving a clear, three-dimensional sound.” The company claims that it is ideal for playing pop music.

The included cable is designed with the shell in mind.

The shell uses high-density alloy with sandblasted surface. It gives a delicate touch and excellent texture. Standard high purity single crystal copper silver plated Litz wire is attached to the outer jacket to also match the color of the cable jacket. I tried to match the design.
