D’Accord Review – Wagner/Trump: Tristan und Isolde

D’Accord Review – Wagner/Trump: Tristan und Isolde

Martina Trump and her D’Accord triumphantly performed Richard Wagner’s “Tristan and Isolde” in miniature form with only seven strings.

The arrangement must have an artistic meaning beyond the practicality of a particular collection. So it’s not just about the cast and the miniature imitation of the original, but also about the analysis and uniqueness. This succeeds triumphantly here. Wagner’s feverish aura sweats from every string pore in the D’Accord. You can hear the nervous drive and many features missing in the original orchestral version. Rich emotion oozes from the tone. Chamber music becomes a very interesting, exciting, and, at best, uncomfortable ordeal. Here you can also hear, in parts of the love duet and Wagner’s song-like moments that are usually left out of other arrangements, that these excess emotions cannot fit into any everyday world or normal life. A very exciting performance due to the excess energy and transparent rhythm.
