It came as a surprise to some Aldi customers: the discount online store is now a thing of the past. However, customers still have a certain amount of time.
Dortmund – If you now want to access the Aldi toy store, you’ll already see the message “Goodbye!” As of Tuesday (August 15th), the online store will no longer be available. Customers have a deadline to back up existing account content.
Aldi has finally canceled its online store offer: the game store is now closed
It can hardly be argued that gaming has long been one of the most popular leisure activities. City Dortmund, for example, already has championship games bring them to life.
Opponent Aldi seems to have miscalculated with offers in the gaming sector. The separate gaming store should in fact be a “real game-changer,” as Aldi itself announced on its website. For about two years, the discounter operated the toy store with electronics manufacturer Medion.
Customers can purchase various game keys in the Aldi game store. These codes allow gamers to have an instant gaming experience. Because instead of the classic box with a data bus, after purchasing a game key, customers receive a product key in digital form, explains Games magazine Giga. This allows the corresponding games to be activated. Today, buyers usually only get the game as a download.
Aldi has closed the game store: customers still have a few days to secure their game keys
Now Aldi’s game show is a thing of the past. Because since August 15, customers can no longer buy games for consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch or for PC in the online store (more on Supermarkets and discounts in RUHR24).
Anyone who has been a loyal customer at an Aldi toy store still has a few days left after the offer closes. Through August 31, account holders can still back up and download purchased product keys. After this period, all accounts will be deleted immediately. So it might be worth checking if you have already redeemed all the game keys you have purchased.
The reasons for the end of the Play Store are unknown. Giga It is suspected that sales received do not meet discount expectations. Aldi’s other online stores are not affected by the closure.
