Costa Cruises brings next generation internet connectivity to its flagship Costa Toscana: SpaceX’s Starlink – the leader in LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite technology – is already on board, providing guests with the best WiFi available.
After Costa Tuscany, SpaceX’s Starlink broadband service will gradually expand to the rest of Costa’s fleet. The first is the Costa Smeralda – the sister ship of the Costa Tuscany. Installation is scheduled to be completed on the other ships in Costa’s fleet by December 2023.
Stay online even in the most remote areas
Starlink provides fast internet connectivity as well as global coverage to keep you connected even in remote areas. Also, on-board web browsing is enhanced by allowing real-time sharing of experiences without restrictions.
However, the benefits will not only accrue to guests: the new service will also improve connectivity between ships and offices on land, optimizing the various ship’s areas of operations and ensuring cruises run smoothly and efficiently.
Crew members’ personal use of the Internet has also been greatly improved, allowing them to connect with loved ones at home or with their social media more reliably and quickly. On Costa Tuscany and soon on other Costa ships, guests have the option to purchase Pay Per Minute, WhatsApp, Social Media and Full packages.
