The United States is seen in most parts of the world as superior to China when it comes to military and economic power, but lags behind when it comes to technological prowess. This is what a poll conducted by the Opinion Research Institute shows Pew Research Center In 24 countries on all continents.
The economy remains the domain of the United States
In 16 out of 24 countries, the United States is ranked as the world’s leading economic power. They view France and Great Britain as equals, and six countries, most of them in Western Europe, have chosen China. These countries include Italy (55 percent for China versus 31 percent for the United States), Greece (48 and 37 percent), Australia (50 and 39 percent), Spain (48 and 38 percent), and Germany (43 and 34 percent, etc.) . (The Netherlands, 40 and 36 percent, respectively).
However, the differences are greater between countries that see the United States as ahead. These include Japan (64 and 22 percent), Israel (61 and 20 percent), Poland (55 and 14 percent), and India (53 and 14 percent). South Korea rules the most extreme. There the United States is considered the world’s leading economic power with a share of 83 percent. China represents only eight percent of the votes. When it comes to military power, no country sees China as ahead. Germany trusts China more than others in this area: 58% for China and 59% for the United States. The gap for other countries ranges between ten and 30 percentage points.
More votes for China in the USA
However, China is the clear winner when evaluating technological performance. 14 out of 24 countries voted against the United States on this aspect. But in Asia, China does not have much trade. The percentage in South Korea ranges between 78 and 40%, in the United States, in Indonesia 73 to 54%, in Japan 66 to 51% and in India 61 to 48%. On the other hand, China is the clear winner in most parts of Europe, Australia, Africa and the Americas, even in the US, where 66% say they rate Chinese technology as above average, compared to just 56% who voted for the US. .
When assessing which country contributes most to global peace and stability, the United States is the clear winner. Only Hungary chose China, at 38%, and the United States, at 34%. When asked which country performed best across all criteria, the United States was far ahead. Only Nigeria (80 to 74 percent) and Kenya (72 to 71 percent) consider China ahead. The Hungarians (44 to 42 percent relative to the United States) were unable to make a clear decision. In other states, the US lead ranges between six and 62 percentage points.
