Child goes astray in our comic-ntower review

Child goes astray in our comic-ntower review

Is there a rabbit, a duck and a pig on the soccer field … No, wait a minute, the humor is different. So here it is. A pig, a duck and a rabbit are standing at the post office and want to send a parcel. Shit, not too, otherwise the drill streak won’t catch fire. So if a duck, a pig, and a rabbit fall from a plane over Avignon …

What a strange group!

That sounds pretty surreal, right? But all of this actually happens in Benjamin Renner’s hilarious comic “A Baby Goes Stray”, recently published by Avant-Verlag. The premise is very promising or what do you think about it: On the way to the parents the stork loses a human baby. Since he can no longer deliver delivery due to an injured wing, they simply take the hare and the duck in their hands … um, the paws. When a pig comes up with its good ideas, nothing stands in the way of a road trip.

Sometimes I just need a picture and I know: I want to read that! In this case, the book was announced on Instagram and it immediately dawned on me that I would be amazed at the drawing style alone. It turned out like this, but then the crazy story came out, too. Because Benjamin Renner sends his inexperienced animal heroes on a cross-country journey; Well, as far as your feet allow. They only get into town on a butcher’s wagon and the pig has to take good care not to end up in the wrong hands. If there was also a flight in the course of the book and suddenly the loading hatch opened high in the air, the reader would feel a bad reminder of the newer Mission Impossible movies. Just without Tom Cruise and without the great stunt shots, but with pigs, babies, ducks, and bunnies … that’s a thing, right?

How the story ends and whether or not the child will eventually end up in the arms of his well-protected family should of course not be revealed here. But I can tell you about a large Tarsier family who was on their way to the Philippines and who escaped from the local zoo. So you see, it doesn’t get boring, but it remains weird and funny and weird but rather humble. When the trio take a break in my garden, I like to offer them something to eat and hear their stories.

conclusion

To cut a long story: the book is just fun and entertaining from start to finish. It’s easy to portray Benjamin Renner’s streak (The Big Bad Fox, also by Avant-Verlag) in my eyes and it’s clear from the start that the story doesn’t take itself seriously. Just that panicked look in the eyes of animal heroes over and over, is awesome. After presenting somewhat pessimistic work here recently, I am delighted to give you an easy read today. Baby on the wrong track comes in landscape format and in thin wrapping about 300 pages thick and impressed me and my wife. A clear recommendation!
