The largest university competition in Latin America, the Brazilian Universiade Games (JUBs) closed last weekend. In the capital, 3,500 thousand athletes from 271 national educational institutions participated in 26 sports. In all, just over 2,000 medals were distributed.
To make the Games in Brasilia possible, the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) rented 35,000 hotel nights, provided 68,500 meals and rented more than 200 cars and buses.
– With every release the JUBs outdo themselves. We observe the development year after year. Of course, it is all part of the productive chain of national sports and university sports are part of this chain of improvement – said the President of the Brazilian Olympic Committee, Paulo Wanderlei Teixeira.
In 2022, CBDU will organize another edition of the event. The goal is to organize the college competition calendar, with the national games in even years.
– We have 5 countries interested in next year’s games, and throughout the week we will discuss the program of visits and inspections to determine the headquarters of next year’s JUBs, but not just JUBs, but for all of next year’s calendar. It’s common for us to decide until November in the 2022 calendar, but the CBDU already has a calendar with some locations marked, we just need to finish it,” said CBDU President Luciano Cabral.
