Carrie Fisher was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame on May 4th

LOS ANGELES — Carrie Fisher received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday, May 4, in honor of the beloved “Star Wars” actor who had a touch of stardom.

Wearing her mother’s photo printed on her metallic dress, the late star’s daughter, Billie Lourd, kissed the star on Fisher’s behalf. She threw glitter, her mom’s favourite, on the newly unveiled star.

“My mom used to say you weren’t actually famous until you became a Pez distributor. Well, people eat candy off her neck every day. I say you’re not actually famous until you get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” she said. “My mom is a hit. Double – distributor of Pez and now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Mama, you succeeded. “

Mark Hamill, who played Fisher’s alien brother, Luke Skywalker, was also in attendance, and recalled meeting the young actor when she was just 19.

“She played such a crucial role in my personal and professional life and both would have been empty without her. Was she a handful? Was she high-maintenance? Without a doubt! But everything would have been lousy and less interesting if she hadn’t been the friend that she was,” Hamill said. .

Many of the crowd dressed up as characters from the space franchise and attended the unveiling of C-3P0 and R2-D2. “Never forget about bots!” On a damp day, Lord said, it gave way to the sun.

Fisher, who died in 2016, joins “Star Wars” co-stars Harrison Ford and Hamill at a Hollywood attraction that learns about superstars from film, television, music and other entertainment industries. Fisher played Leia Organa, who over six films transformed from princess to general leading the forces of good in their fight against oppressive regimes bent on controlling a galaxy far, far away.

“Nobody’s going to be as hot or cool as Princess Leia,” said Lorde. “Leah is more than a character. She is a feeling. She is a strength. She is a blessing. She is smart. She is femininity at her best. She knows what she wants and she gets it. She doesn’t need anyone to save her because she saves herself and saves the lifeguards. And no one can To play it like my mom.”

Fans have long campaigned for her to get a Walk of Fame star. The tribute comes May 4th and is essentially an official holiday for Star Wars fans, a play on a line Fisher said often in the films, “May the Force be with you.”

Devotees around the world celebrate a variety of homages, while retailers hold special sales on Star Wars merchandise.

Fisher has been awarded the 2754th star on the Walk of Fame. Ford received his star in 2003 and Hamill was similarly honored in 2018.
