Premium display manufacturers agree that MicroLED will play a key role in the car of the future. LG, for example, was shown at CES 2023, How OLED links and software should transform the car into a living space. Taiwanese manufacturer AUO presented its solution in Las Vegas: a transparent, high-resolution LED display. This is based on LED film with high light transmission.
According to the AUO, the brightness of the transparent LED is so high that the content can also be seen on the windshield and side windows of the car. This level of brightness, designed for light shining in from all directions, presents a challenge with transparent screens. The technology should also serve information and entertainment applications in cruise tours via ship, bus or train.
In addition, AUO demonstrated a rollable and stretchable MicroLED technology, called an “immersive cockpit display solution”. A 14.6-inch display that can be attached to the dashboard with a radius of curvature of 40 mm is offered. The driver must receive their driving information.
