In the Due Date, the date determines the mode of the game, since there is a different set of rules for each day of the year. So “Stichtag” should offer most types of games from all games.
Ravensburger made the “Stichtag” available for us to review.
This does not affect our rating!
Really many differences
The basic game mechanism of “Stichtag” is probably well known from other trick-taking games, such as the classic Skat.
A deck of playing cards, consisting of values 1-11 of six different colors, each is shuffled and all dealt to twelve cards in hand. One color, red in the standard case, is defined as the winning color and therefore has a higher value than the other colors.
One person starts and plays any card from his hand. All others must now, one by one, if possible, show a card of the same kind. This is called compulsion to work. A different color can only be played if someone does not have a matching card of that color on hand. The person who played the most valuable card wins the trick that is worth 1 point on the ‘Due Date’.
The order from lowest to highest is:
A card that does not participate in the required suit nor is it a trump suit
Required color card
Trump color
If the color is the same, it is the higher number on the card that decides.
Example:
The number 7 is played yellow and red is trump. The other people play yellow 9, blue 2, red 1. In this case, the order of the cards is evaluated as follows: blue 2 < yellow 7 < yellow 9 < red 1. red 1 wins.
The person who won the spin can now play the next card. This repeats itself until all cards have been played. The winner is the one who gets the most points at the end of the round.
This is the standard mode. However, there are 480 variations on the “key date”. It is determined by combining different rules into 3 categories in a daily calendar simulation. Here are some examples:
The tenth number of the day determines the goal of the game
The person with the fewest tricks wins after 3 rounds
Each person receives two heart cards. If you have the fewest tricks in the round, you give up one. Whoever has the most hearts after 3 rounds wins
The winner is the person who reached exactly 12 points after the round. Points above this will be deducted again. If no one has made it by the fourth round, the closest person wins.
The first number of the day determines the rules of the game
The first card played is placed face down. Only the color is mentioned
If 1 is played, the trump color may change
At first, only even cards can be played. Individual cards can only be placed after all the cards have been played
There are bonus points for correctly predicting won tricks
A veto prevents the last played card from being played, which is then discarded. For this, the person in question receives a veto and can use it himself from the next round
Months set their own rules
The cards also show symbols. If fool’s hat is played, the hand of the cards is passed to the person on the left
A card with an explosion symbol renders the whole trick useless
If a player wins a trick containing a card with the sun symbol, they will be hit by a sunstroke and a card of the same name. Since then, she can no longer win any trick until someone else receives this card.
