At E3 2021 – despite the digital trend – there were of course many new games to be seen. But there is also no doubt that some revelations and presentations have clearly stood out from the crowd. For many Ubisoft Forward event viewers, that includes the first-time presentation of the upcoming Avatar video game.
The first trailer made eyes widen and suspicions arose around the same time. As with the first-look reveal trailer for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, skeptics fear the graphical release will be downgraded. Especially since the title should appear next year 2022.
Ubisoft Unveils Avatar Frontiers of Pandora – 2022
In addition to the impressive promotion, Ubisoft also provides us with more information about the game, allowing a somewhat more comprehensive view of the project.
This is behind Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is powered by the latest version of Snowdrop engine and is part of the first person action and adventure game genre. If you look closely at the trailer, you can even spot the first FPP gameplay scene. It’s not confirmed as such, but at best it could be very representative of the perspective in which we should be experiencing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora next year.
The game, which can be clearly seen as a AAA project, is being developed by Ubisoft Studio Massive Entertainment, backed by Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.
In this new standalone expansion of the Avatar universe, we slip into the role of the Na’vi and embark on a journey across the western frontier, an never-before-seen part of Pandora. We’re exploring and discovering a living, interactive world populated by unique creatures and new characters, as Ubisoft explains in the comments to the Avatar video game. One of our main goals in the game will be to bring back the massive RDA forces that threaten us and the world.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be available exclusively on the new generation of consoles – PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S as well as Stadia, Amazon Luna, and Windows PC.
Analysis: Here’s what the trailer tells us at first sight
The trailer begins with an FPP (first person perspective) view of a familiar, lush, and beautiful forest landscape, before we encounter Na’vi and banshee, which have a great view with Pandora’s signature floating mountains in the background.
Then we see what has been revealed as Pandora’s new life form and areas, along with some well-known avatars, including hexapods and horses. Of course, Pandora wouldn’t be without the idea of bioluminescence for timbers to float atop dense vegetation glowing under the faint light of gas giant Polyphemus.
The trailer also gives a glimpse into the open level Na’vi community before showcasing a large Resource Development Administration (RDA) facility with a wide range of military equipment, including the Expanded Mobility Platform (AMP- Suit) as well as the Samson and Scorpion battleship.
Finally, you can, of course, watch the trailer again entirely for yourself.
