Vienna. This year's admission process at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences (FH Vienna) of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce begins today, Tuesday, January 9. Interested parties can apply for one of around 1,100 study places between now and March 25.
From “Communication Management” to “Human Resources and Organization” to “Tourism and Hospitality Management”: the Vienna University of Applied Sciences now offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in nine different fields. It was opened in 1994 and currently teaches about 2,800 people.
You can apply for a place at the University of Applied Sciences of Management and Communication until 25 March. You can choose between bachelor's and master's degree programs in 9 fields. The language of instruction on most courses is German, and individual modules are taught in English. Three courses are conducted in English.
Technology and economics
The part-time Master's degree program “Digital Technology and Innovation” is also being offered for the first time. This interdisciplinary technical course aims to impart skills in the field of digital technology and prepare students to manage “innovation projects”. “This course is ideal for people interested in digital technology who want to deepen their technical knowledge with the aim of combining technology and business,” says Sebastian Eschenbach, Head of the Department of Digital Economy.
Knowledge should be imparted to students through “problem-based learning”. This means that they learn by solving real, practical tasks. “They work in small teams on projects in areas such as health, mobility, energy or education. By doing so, they also train their creativity and flexibility,” explains Eschenbach.
Augmented reality for machine learning
Graduates of the new master's degree program should be able to make technological decisions, design information systems and implement them as prototypes in agile teams. To do this, they must use machine learning, generative AI, intelligent assistance, data science as well as augmented reality. The four-semester course is designed to be part-time: around 60 percent of the teaching is done online. This is intended to give students flexibility in terms of location and time. The new course of study is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2024.
Two-thirds of teachers are business professionals and managers. “We have practitioners in the lecture hall – managers, project managers, experts and freelancers,” says Michael Herrich, Managing Director of FHWien der WKW. “Our students benefit from the work experience they gain,” he concludes. Bachelor's degree programs will provide basic business training, while master's degree programs will prepare you for managerial tasks.
