Apple Watch Can Finally Detect Naps With WatchOS 11! | Lifehacker Japan

Apple this yearGlobal Developers ConferenceWe've revealed a number of exciting features coming to the Apple Watch lineup.

This is the next update for Apple Watch.WatchOS 11Includes new AI-powered features, training loads, and more. But there are also features that Apple didn't cover in its presentation, like sleep detection and nap tracking.

The first beta of watchOS 11 is now available, and I’m already trying out the new operating system to see what Apple has added. While I was looking forward to other big additions, like the awesome translation features, I didn’t expect to discover Nap.

But fortunately,RedditorI happened to fall asleep while my Apple Watch was on and realized that my Apple Watch was automatically recording my sleep data.

In watchOS 10 and earlier, the Apple Watch had to be in Sleep Focus mode to get sleep tracking data. Additionally, it doesn’t support nap tracking, only full rest in the evening. But according to information found by Redditors, and tested by myself:watchOS 11 can actually detect napsIt seems that.

Of course, there are some caveats. It doesn’t appear to be broken down into different sleep stages like regular sleep tracking does. But it’s still a really cool change, and one that many people, including myself, wanted to see on the Apple Watch.

It's unclear if this means the Apple Watch will be able to do full automatic sleep tracking, or if the Apple Watch will just detect when you start sleeping.

Apple hasn't said anything about this feature yet, so all eager Apple Watch owners can do is try and wait to see how this feature changes (if it does in a future beta).

How to install watchOS 11 beta

To check out Nap Detection and other new features in watchOS 11, you don’t have to wait until the official release this fall. You can always install the watchOS 11 beta instead.

Previously, you had to go through more steps to download the various developer betas from Apple or buy a developer account for $99 per year. But now anyone can find the beta in their device’s settings.

Before explaining the methodMost people shouldn't install the watchOS 11 beta.I want to address that. That’s because Apple doesn’t actually allow you to roll back to a previous OS. That means you can’t go back to a previous version if you run into any nasty bugs. We’ll just have to deal with it until the next beta update comes out.

If you're willing to take the risk, here's what you need to do to upgrade.

  1. First, launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
  2. Open “General” and search for “Software Update”.
  3. Find the Beta Updates option, tap it, and select watchOS 11 Developer Beta. When public betas become available, they'll appear here, too.

Select Developer Beta and the download will start. In fact,To install the beta, place your Apple Watch on its charger and charge it to at least 50%.And there is a need.

Once installed, you can try out the new settings and features. To use the new nap detection feature, just make sure you've opened the Sleep app at least once, and as long as your Apple Watch is on your wrist, it should automatically detect when you're taking a nap.
