Apple GPT: A new AI chatbot that defies the competition

Apple GPT: A new AI chatbot that defies the competition

The news service recently wrote that the software is currently undergoing internal testing by some employees. There are still no decisions, she said, citing people familiar with the matter, about the form in which AI can be made available to consumers. Sources familiar with the situation have made it clear that Apple has multiple teams working on the project, which includes addressing potential privacy implications. Bloomberg also noted that the chatbot is based on a large language model (LLM) framework called “Ajax” that runs on Google Cloud and was built using Google JAX, a framework designed to accelerate machine learning research.

Late to the party: Apple’s AI revolution started relatively late

Tech giants like Google or Meta have already developed their own technologies for intelligent chatbots. In this vein, Meta recently launched its own AI language model, Llama 2. Microsoft even struck a multi-billion dollar deal with OpenAI iChat GPT. And Elon Musk recently founded the artificial intelligence company xAI.

Google Announces “Biggest Bard Update Yet”. The chatbot is now finally available in Germany and many other countries. In addition, thanks to the new functionality, users should be able to receive more individual answers and increase their productivity.

While Meta companies, Microsoft, Google, and even Musk have been relatively quick to release their AI products to businesses and the general public, Apple has recently stood out for not initially participating in the competition for the best AI language model. CEO Tim Cook confirmed as recently as May that Apple sees great potential in AI software, but that the group wants to use it with caution. So Apple has been pretty quiet on generative AI, even though the company has been integrating AI into its own software for a long time. The most famous of Apple’s artificial intelligence systems is Siri, the voice assistant that started a trend among tech companies.

But critics have been claiming for some time that Siri still has a long way to go. To bolster Apple’s efforts, in 2018 the company brought on John Giannandrea, who previously managed Google’s artificial intelligence and search departments, to oversee Siri and its associated machine learning teams. According to Bloomberg, Giannandrea and Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering, are now leading the company’s latest artificial intelligence initiative.

Apple has proven its AI expertise in the past – but what are the chances of success now?

According to Bloomberg, the Apple Chatbot — similar to ChatGPT — can, among other things, summarize texts and answer questions based on available information. According to the report from the news service, Apple shares initially jumped about 2 percent. The additional percentage later fell to around 0.5 percent. The iPhone giant is already using functions with machine learning and artificial intelligence, for example to improve photos and auto-correct when typing or detecting a fall.

Apple is worth three trillion dollars The most valuable company in the world And it continues to challenge users’ habits with innovations: both in the context of the touch screen and in the case of Airpods. The group, which revolutionized the iPhone and is known for its innovative power and pioneering spirit, has already pioneered in terms of artificial intelligence and language with the Siri software. However, that was more than a decade ago, and ChatGPT, for example, is much more straightforward than the well-known software behind “Hey Siri.” However, this does not necessarily mean that Apple may not eventually succeed in emerging as the champion of the battle of artificial intelligence. We can’t wait to see what the future of AI will bring.
