Nvidia has introduced a new AI technology that makes it appear as if users are always focusing on the camera. The result works so well it’s almost scary.
The development of artificial intelligence is making steady progress – longtime graphics card manufacturer Nvidia has made a name for itself as a leader in the field of artificial intelligence. Now the company has introduced new software called Eye Contact that makes it seem as if users are always looking directly into the camera – even when they’re not.
Eye Contact delivers a great result and is completely free
The software is available as a new feature in Nvidia’s broadcast app and simulates human eyeballs that are constantly focused on the camera. The effect works surprisingly well, as a comparison video from Nvidia demonstrates:
The program opens up a variety of options for users, for example in meetings or when reading text in front of the camera. People who generally have difficulty staring into the camera in videos in order to address their viewers also benefit from eye contact. PCGamer’s editors have tried the tool themselves and are full of praise. Tester Jacob Ridley was impressed with how well the AI worked, especially with webcams and small video windows. However, he also points out that the software reaches its limits if you look too far from the camera, such as the outer edge of a second screen.
Eye Contact is completely free to use and available to all Nvidia Broadcast users with an RTX graphics card. If you want to try the software yourself, you can download the current version 1.4 of Nvidia Broadcast from the manufacturer’s official website.
