A$AP Rocky and Puma Show Off 3D-Printed Sneaker Design

Puma and rapper A$AP Rocky have stepped up their collaboration and are now introducing a unique sneaker. Launching this week, the A$AP Rocky x Puma Mostro 3D uses 3D printing technology to reinterpret the recently revived archival sneaker design.

Based on a resin-based 3D printing process, the Mostro 3D transforms the original shoe into a futuristic slip-on shoe. The most noticeable feature is the studs of different sizes scattered throughout the perforated shoe. A wider honeycomb pattern is implemented around the ankle area. The thick studded sole creates a cavity in the midfoot area, giving the shoe a unique silhouette. A special surface treatment reminiscent of spray paint gives the Mostro 3D its distinctive black and red look.

A$AP Rocky and Puma began their collaboration last fall. After a long hiatus in the footwear space, the Mostro 3D release, along with two new versions of the Inhale sneaker, marks a turning point in the collaboration.

Puma has re-introduced the original Mostro, a lifestyle sneaker that was popular in fashion circles in the early 2000s, in 2023, initially on a small scale. A more comprehensive revival has been launched to celebrate the model’s 25th anniversary this year. While the different colors, materials, and collaborations have already brought new facets to the sneaker inspired by ’80s surf shoes and ’60s running shoes, the 3D-printed Rocky version represents the most radical reinterpretation yet.

The A$AP Rocky x Puma Mostro 3D will be available on September 26 via Puma's website for $250.
